Paper due: Tuesday Jan. 13th. Book MUST be returned to the library by Jan. 27th
3-5 pages
Prompt: How does oppression play out in The Bluest Eye? Identify two types of oppression and trace their development and interaction through the text. Make sure your theme is a statement about your topic, not just a general topic (Ex. It’s not enough to say that society is racist and classist, you will need to make a statement about the interaction and effect of the racism and classism on specific characters and/or by specific social institutions). Be sure to include your thoughts about the different types of oppression at play in the story (race, class, gender, etc) and also about the intersectionality of those types of oppression.
